Our Story

Born in Brampton, Ontario Canada, our Founder Sundin Esperance was always used to having a green bin for organic waste. That ended when he moved to a small village called Hammond, Ontario. He was shocked by the amount of municipalities that had no form of food waste collections services and Hammond was one of them. At the time, Sundin was working as a Casual Waste Collections Operator for the City of Ottawa. Seeing that food waste that gets dump at landfills produces a powerful greenhouse gas called "Methane" which is 20 times more potent than CO2, he thought every municipality had food waste collection services.

After his time with the City, Sundin moved on to work for Convertus Group who is Canada's largest and most advanced operator and the only organics waste processor in North America that offers full-cycle services for the treatment and processing of organic waste. He was amazed at the positive environmental impact food waste had. From rich compost that farmers use to grow fruits and vegetables that is purchased at the grocery store, reduction of greenhouse gas emission, anaerobic digestion.. the list goes on. This birthed Esperance Group! A company that is determined to make a difference on day at a time. Every 10 buckets of food waste that gets collected, is a step forward. 1 household's bucket that gets sent to a landfill, brings us 10 steps back.

Mission

Esperance Group's mission is to starve the landfills. We are determined to get food waste out of the landfill and into composting facilities. One of the ways we have decided to do this, is through working with residents in municipalities who do not have a Green Bin program.

There's an African proverb that says...

"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together". Esperance Group wants to work with communities all across Canada who do not have food waste collections services. We believe by working together, we can go far and make a difference.
